How does ColoSense work?

Our test looks for RNA, a type of molecule that carries instructions from your cells to help them work. When colon cancer or pre-cancerous growths are present, they can release specific RNA markers into the colon. This test uses a stool sample to detect those markers.

EARLY SCREENING AND COLON CANCER

Colon Cancer: What You Need to Know

Colon cancer starts in the colon or rectum. It often begins as a precancerous polyp, which can be detected through screening, potentially preventing cancer from developing.2

Why is early screening important?:
  • Colon cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in both men and women and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S.2
  • Early detection dramatically increases survival rates. The 5-year survival rate for localized cancer is about 90%.2
  • Incidence rates are increasing among individuals younger than 50. Regular screenings starting at age 45 are now recommended.2
  • Lifestyle factors that can increase the risk of developing colon cancer include smoking, heavy alcohol consumption, obesity, and dietary choices.2
